Maria eases through
Maria didn't waste much time in Tokyo as she scored a 6-0 6-1 victory over #12 seed Samantha Stosur of Australia to advance to the 3rd round.  The win took 57 minutes as Maria won her 6th straight match against the Australian.

Maria did have a chance to score a double bagel but Stosur held her serve at 5-0 in the 2nd set.  Maria's serve was on fire throughout the whole match and she had 6 aces to only 1 double-fault.

In the 3rd round to be played on Wednesday, Maria will play Alisa Kleybanova of Russia.  They have played once before in Toronto in August and Maria won in 3 sets.

Masha played an excellent match. She was concentrated and determined from the first to the last minute and dominated the whole match in superb manner. Congratulations, Masha! After so many high-ranked competitors already passed you have an excellent opportunity to reach the final again and ... who knows ...
