aria is through to the quarters at the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford as she defeated #5 seed Nadia Petrova of Russia.  Maria won 6-1 6-2 in 1 hour and 1 minute.

Maria put on a dominating display in the 1st set as she has wrapped it up 6-1 in 26 minutes.   Maria was serving well as she won every point on 1st serve.

The 2nd set was a similar story to the 1st set as Maria took the set 6-2 in 35 minutes.  In the last game when Maria was serving for the match, she didn't drop a point.

In the quarters to be played on Friday, Maria will play either #2 seed Venus Williams of the United States or Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia.

Just would like to know how to purchase that cute black and light blue dress. It looks great. You always have great taste in your tennis clothes. Good luck for the U.S. Open.

maria you did your loyal fans proud gutted you lost but thanks for the three great matches i enjoyed them all and cant wait till the u s open bring it on hopefully it wont be long till you are number one again then your fans can really celebrate.

Masha when I read that you were at your best I couldn't believe but yesterday you showed me that you really came back so good luck 4 your match against Venus cause I trust in your victory!!! i am amazed at the improvement maria has shown in this tournament so far. much better accuracy, power in the serve, and stamina. i don't know what the critics are talking about when they say she is no where near her best. this is a new maria with unlimited potential.
