Kremlin Cup draw released

Maria is seeded #2 and receives a bye in the 1st round. For the second round Maria is scheduled to play either Victoria Azarenka of Belarus or Sybille Bammer of Austria. Maria hasn't played either player before. This match will be played on either Wednesday or Thursday.

The Kremlin Cup is the first event of the indoor season for Maria and is a tier 1 alongside Zurich.  There are big points on offer in Moscow this week which Maria needs to assure her place at the WTA Tour Championships in Madrid in November.

This is Maria's third appearance here having reached the quarters both times - but both times Maria was affected by injury.
