Maria Sharapova faces Yung-Jan Chan in Miami

Maria Sharapova will play doubles specialist Yung-Jan Chan in the second round after the Chinese Taipei player defeated Nuria Llagostera Vives in the first round.

Chan, who reached the doubles final with partner Chia-Jung Chuang in Indian Wells last week, defeated her Spanish opponent 6-2 6-3.

Sharapova is the top seed for the competition, but may have to beat both Williams' sisters before even making it to the quarter-finals.
